Laurent Knook
Consultant
In my work as an organisational consultant, I combine data with an understanding of human behaviour. Before joining GalanNXT and Bright & Company, I worked in various roles as a consultant and project manager, supporting different organisations with employee well-being and change initiatives. My strength lies in making the available options clear: these are the possibilities, these are the consequences, and now the choice is yours.
I studied both Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering and Management, combining a technical, analytical perspective with a people-centred approach. I am curious about what drives people and am not afraid to address uncomfortable issues.
I live in Utrecht with my wife Sietske and our daughter Lexi. In my spare time, I enjoy seeking out adventures, such as wild camping in the Veluwe. I also love dancing, surfing and listening to philosophy podcasts. In addition, I am actively involved as a community mediator.
“Let it happen.”
What is your area of expertise?
I help organisations navigate people-centred change, specialising in data-driven approaches and issues relating to sickness absence and employee well-being. Whether managing projects or facilitating team sessions, I turn ideas into tangible results.
What is your vision for your field?
A few key principles. First, a people-centred organisation strikes a balance between organisational objectives and employees’ needs. Rules and policies are useful, but should never become an end in themselves. Second, it is not about avoiding stress, but learning how to manage it. And finally: treat everyone differently, and treat everyone as a human being.
What is the most important lesson you have learned?
Speak up about what you observe. So much happens beneath the surface. By bringing it into the open and acknowledging the feelings involved, you create space for genuine collaboration.
What do you still hope to learn?
To embrace other people’s perspectives. I think I would find greater peace of mind if I could accept that everyone is right.
