Rosanne Oudshoorn

Consultant

I have been working at Bright & Company since 2022. I originally studied Psychology and, in 2021, added a master’s degree in Change Management at Stichting Sioo, Interuniversity Centre for Organisational Studies and Change Management (SIOO).
Alongside my broad focus on HR strategy, employability and organisational change, I specialise in collaboration and team development. I rely strongly on my intuition, both in life and at work, and believe it is incredibly important to build genuine connections with people.

Drawing on the methods and insights of Deep Democracy, I help people understand one another better, have meaningful conversations and constructive conflicts, and say what needs to be said. Deep Democracy is a method for ensuring that every voice in a group be heard and that differences are used productively.

I consciously make time and space for people to truly listen to and understand one another first, looking beyond the content of the work, the assignment or the tensions that may arise. When this happens, and misunderstandings, frustrations and emotions no longer cloud the conversation, it becomes much easier to focus on the issues at hand. We can then draw on everyone’s insights to enrich discussions and decision-making. For this to work, it is essential that all voices are heard, especially the less popular ones.

Outside work, I have a busy social life with my family and friends. I love music, cooking, enjoying wine and spending nice evenings with friends. To stay fit and prepare for my passion: skiing. I also take boxing classes.

"What you give attention to will flourish."

Do you have a specialisation?

I specialise in challenges relating to collaboration and team dynamics. I also regularly guide programmes focused on personal leadership development. Drawing on my original professional background, I have broad experience in areas such as sickness absence and employability, workload and stress management.

What important trends do you see in your field?

The importance of sustainable employability has grown steadily over the years. An ageing population and labour market shortages are forcing organisations to think about the future of their workforce and how to help employees remain healthy and motivated at work. As a result, there is also increasing attention to issues such as stress and workload, employee engagement and a sense of purpose. A major challenge for organisations is how to make these issues everyone’s responsibility, rather than leaving them solely to HR.

What makes Bright & Company so special?

The people who work here! There is an incredible wealth of knowledge and expertise within the organisation, and everyone is willing to share it. The high level of engagement, creativity and sense of humour make it an inspiring environment where there is always room for personal development.

What is the most important lesson you have learned?

That I can trust my intuition and give myself the space to express my opinions, ideas and creativity.
